Harrogate Eating Disorder Service at the Oakdale Centre is an innovative team of professionals dedicated to working with children and adults with a diagnosed eating disorder, disordered eating or difficulties with their relationship with their body and food. We provide support for individuals who have the following conditions:
We are a highly experienced team of Psychologists, Family Therapist, Dietitians and Nurse Specialist who supervise weight restoration and weight management programmes. We work together to provide individual, family/carer and group therapy with a bespoke therapy plan designed for each individual. The team is led by Dr Dominica Chamberlain, a Consultant Counselling Psychologist who has significant experience of working in a Specialist Eating Disorder Service and in Community teams. When not working in Harrogate Eating Disorder Service (HEDS), she is a Clinical Lead for Psychological Therapy Services within a local NHS Trust. Ellie Campbell, our Lead Dietitian, has extensive experience of working in this field and has a special interest in Binge Eating Disorders and weight management programmes. We work using validated therapeutic models as per NICE guidelines to give the best chance for recovery. As part of this we recognise that the psychological is as important as the physiological in relation to recovery, which is why our therapists work with dietitians and families to provide the optimal conditions for recovery.
Once we receive a referral we aim to see the individual within a week as the sooner that any difficulties are addressed the better the chances of recovery.
